Robert Huitt, Candidate for Re-Election to City Council

Jan and I decided to move to Pacific Grove when our daughter was two because we saw this as the kind of place we wanted to live, a wonderful community in an incomparable setting, a town where we could walk to work, know our neighbors, and get involved. It has been everything we hoped for and more, a very special place indeed, and I want to do all I can as a citizen and a Councilmember to help keep it that way. That's why I'm running for re-election.

This is a challenging time for Pacific Grove, which makes it all the more crucial that we work together for reasonable solutions. We're facing a lot of tough issues and hard choices, including the regional water supply and our city's proper role in it, development of the Holman property in a way that's appropriate for the site and acceptable to the community, and what to do about our pension obligations in compliance with sometimes conflicting laws.

We also have plenty of reasons to be optimistic. Good things are happening all over town, with more on the horizon. We've increased Library hours again. Remodeling of the old Bath House restaurant is almost finished. Major street repaving and sewer replacement projects are underway. Volunteers are actively engaged, restoring the Lighthouse, working on plans for Coastal Trail improvements, raising funds for the kiddie pool at Lover's Point, and helping in countless other ways.

Pacific Grove is still the best place in the world as far as I'm concerned, and having a chance to be involved in public life here is a privilege that I cherish. I want to keep making a positive difference for the community, and I promise to continue doing my best to represent and serve you well.
